Third death isn't the charm...

Remember how I said deaths come in threes...?

Well, today it happened. My friend Jenny called, her dad had a heart attack and she is at the hospital with him. No he didn't die... But her husband, Chad, he went home to get some rest, well then he got a phone call, his dad died. Can you say suck-ee day for them? But there's my third death, so no more.

And as an aside FYI, James' parents in Arkansas, they were not hit by any of the bad tornadoes they had yesterday and are okay.

Always good to know...

Until next time...

Feeling a little Blah...

So mom calls me this morning to tell me sad news...

Mexico Harmony died. Har-moh-nee (so you can pronounce it more correctly)... is the Korean word for Grandma. She was half-Mexican and half-Korean and married to the Bishop of Dale and Cindy's ward in Texas (now there's a sentence with all sorts of issues, mostly, too many prepositions). She had an aneurysm on Friday and passed away. Cindy was very close to her and is not taking this very well, especially since her own mother is ill and not doing as well as she could be. So it is always nice to wake up to the news of someone's death.

But then I got thinking, this is the second death that affects me in some way, President Hinckley's was the first, so really, I have one to go... They always come in threes.

So it keeps me wondering, who is next? And then James will tell me not to think like that... I think he is always afraid it will be someone closer... As long as none of the potential long range tornadoes don't take out any of his family members in either Arkansas or Missouri, we should be okay. I won't say more about that, for one reason and one reason only...

"I'm in a hospital, what could go wrong...?"--from Hot Shots

And if you don't know what happens after, well, you'll just have to watch the movie to find out.

I'm just hanging around now, dragging my feet about going to bed. Listening to the political mucky-muck on the TV, not that I can stand it, but it's hard to avoid...

I did vote today in the primary. Like mom said, a lesser of the evils vote. Course I had to figure out which precinct I was in as they moved my polling location. Usually I vote at Forbes, but today I went there, found out they weren't polling there, and had to call the county office to find out which district I am in so I could figure out where to go to vote. I ended up going to the high school. Then, they were kinda snooty (not totally my polling site, but everywhere) about whether or not you were registered as independent or unaffiliated. If you were going to vote democrat, that was fine, but if you were going to vote republican, you basically had to fill out a new voter registration form and declare yourself as a republican. UGH!!! I believe I am with mom, screw this two party system, it doesn't seem to work very well anyway. I mean look at all of the yay-hoos we have had running for president for two years now!!! But that should tell you something about the current administration, like IT SUCKS!!!

Okay, I seriously have to get off the soap-box. I did go with James to see his P.O. today. Hopefully, everything said and done he will be free in April--I hope, I hope, I hope. I'm so sick of this nonsense. That's another aspect of our so called wonderful system that really doesn't work as our forefathers imagined it would. But then I guess it tends to be better than other potential systems. Actually I believe our system has been perverted by the red-tape bureaucracy and nonsense that congress and the respective state legislatures have heaped upon it. That and the judges who get a small taste of the power and let it go beyond their heads and over inflated egos.

Sorry, soapbox again... It's so easy to get up there, I have such a height complex...

I had a new course three class begin tonight. Students I have had before, so it was fun. We are covering cakes in fondant next week. I promised them I would bring a cake to do with them, so I have to be sure I get one baked and such...

Okay, I guess I'll go to bed. I want to read some of the Book of Mormon so I can stay on top of my challenge. I'll update my chart tomorrow. I charted my progress this morning, but I didn't copy the link over to here.

Until next time...

James' Flower

So we did the survey for James, he came out a tulip. You can read below to see why...

You Are a Tulip

You have a wild, experimental side that craves change.
You often switch jobs and lovers, always looking for something better.
But deep down, you're also very well grounded and content.
And you will come to know that the life you live is already ideal.

The Hinckley Challenge

So I just signed up for the Hickley Challenge. I even put my progress graph here on the blog as well. We'll see how much I get done, or how quickly...

The idea is to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days (one day for each year of President Hinckley's life). This is being done by many in memory of President Hinckley. He told us on a number of occassions how important it is to make the Book of Mormon a large part of our lives. He is not the only President of the Church to magnify the importance of reading the Book of Mormon and using it as a guide for our lives. Previous Prophets have extolled us to do the same.

So here you can track me, if you go to www.hinckleychallenge.com you can sign up for yourself.

The challenge begins tomorrow, February 4, 2008. The ending date, 97 days later is May 11, 2008. I think this will allow us to strengthen ourselves, our testimonies, and as a people-Saints following Christ's teachings.

Until next time...

BLOG POLL: What Flower am I?

Okay, so Susie put this on her blog, so I decided to go with it... The first time I took the quiz, I got a rose. I posted the results below.

You Are a Rose

You are a total alpha dog who tends to be a leader.
Your friends depend on you to hold things together and make decisions.
Potential lovers are drawn to your raw power and strength.
While you are the center of attention, you are secretly introverted and a bit shy.

But I did not agree with the result, it just didn't feel right... So I did it again... That time I got carnation, and I KNEW it wasn't right... (Didn't post that one...) So I did it a third time (That's the charm!) And I got Iris, I wasn't sure till I read the description and decided it was far more fitting.

You Are An Iris

You are a unique person who seeks out novelty in life.
An inspiration seeker, you often have to change scenery to recharge.
You don't deal well with structure or rules. You need to do it your own way.
Your ideal relationships are free and flowing. No one can tie you down.

As for what my name means, it means beautiful, in Spanish, DUH! That's why some people called me George :) and others called me Norman :) but I think I prefer Aunt B-Jo, best!

Until the next poll...

I could pass 8th Grade Science...

...does that mean I am Smarter than a fifth grader?

Okay, I am liking this whole blog poll question thingy, it's kinda fun...

So, here are my results for the most recent one, "Can you pass eight grade science?"

You Passed 8th Grade Science

Congratulations, you got 8/8 correct!
I got all of the questions CORRECT--how cool is that?
How DID YOU do?
Until the next poll...

What kind of Cake am I?

Okay, so I had to do one more...

What kind of Cake am I? I found it to be extremely appropriate.

Here are the results:

You Are a Chocolate Cake

Fun, comforting, and friendly.
You are a true classic, and while you're not super cutting edge, you're high quality.
People love your company - and have even been known to get addicted to you.
Good thing, huh, I mean what if I had been white cake, what would I have done? I mean really?
Promise, last one for today...
