BLOG POLL: What Flower am I?

Okay, so Susie put this on her blog, so I decided to go with it... The first time I took the quiz, I got a rose. I posted the results below.

You Are a Rose

You are a total alpha dog who tends to be a leader.
Your friends depend on you to hold things together and make decisions.
Potential lovers are drawn to your raw power and strength.
While you are the center of attention, you are secretly introverted and a bit shy.

But I did not agree with the result, it just didn't feel right... So I did it again... That time I got carnation, and I KNEW it wasn't right... (Didn't post that one...) So I did it a third time (That's the charm!) And I got Iris, I wasn't sure till I read the description and decided it was far more fitting.

You Are An Iris

You are a unique person who seeks out novelty in life.
An inspiration seeker, you often have to change scenery to recharge.
You don't deal well with structure or rules. You need to do it your own way.
Your ideal relationships are free and flowing. No one can tie you down.

As for what my name means, it means beautiful, in Spanish, DUH! That's why some people called me George :) and others called me Norman :) but I think I prefer Aunt B-Jo, best!

Until the next poll...

I could pass 8th Grade Science...

...does that mean I am Smarter than a fifth grader?

Okay, I am liking this whole blog poll question thingy, it's kinda fun...

So, here are my results for the most recent one, "Can you pass eight grade science?"

You Passed 8th Grade Science

Congratulations, you got 8/8 correct!
I got all of the questions CORRECT--how cool is that?
How DID YOU do?
Until the next poll...

What kind of Cake am I?

Okay, so I had to do one more...

What kind of Cake am I? I found it to be extremely appropriate.

Here are the results:

You Are a Chocolate Cake

Fun, comforting, and friendly.
You are a true classic, and while you're not super cutting edge, you're high quality.
People love your company - and have even been known to get addicted to you.
Good thing, huh, I mean what if I had been white cake, what would I have done? I mean really?
Promise, last one for today...

Well, the last few days have been eventful.

On Sunday, Our dear, beloved Prophet, President Gordon Bitner Hinckley, passed away. It was emotional, but at the same time it was okay, because I know how much he missed his dear, sweet wife Marjorie. She passed away four years ago. His funeral is set for this Saturday, February 2, Groundhog Day.

I worked all day Sunday, we did inventory at Archiver's in the Hot Spot section. It never ceases to amaze me how time flies when I am at work there. I guess it is because it is a scrapbook store and I love all the stuff in there. So I'll get busy doing something and whoa, half my shift is gone, or it is time to go home. I really enjoy that job!

It's been snowing a lot here in the last several weeks. I'm not knocking the snow, we need the moisture, and I like the snow when it is all fresh and new and white. What I'm really complaining about is the drivers. Why is it people always either drive like madmen/women or like they've never driven in the snow before? When I went to teach my class tonight, I forgot my book that I teach out of, despite living just a few blocks away, I decided it was too icky to drive home and back again just to get the book. Besides, it was just course one, I can teach that in my sleep.

Anywho, I guess I just wanted to post. Maybe I'll take some pics of the snow tomorrow and put them up. I don't think it is getting any nicer, so it's not like it will melt off anytime soon.

Until next time...

Just some ponderings

Last night before bed (or while I was trying to read and James' brain wouldn't shut off--so he pestered me) James and I were talking.

The intro to this is I spent somewhere between seven and eight hours at mom's house yesterday going over the bill from the office where J goes for his counseling. He is almost done (thank heavens) but in the process of reviewing the bill and putting into a spreadsheet so we could figure out what was messed up, I got frustrated and angry. So did mom. We found things J was charged for that he should not have been. It was making me crazy.

Well, when I was trying to read and James started to talk to me about just trying to get it over with and pay what we supposedly owe and not make waves, so he can just be done, I really did understand, but I also explained to him about how I have always championed the underdog and only the night before he had said something about the other guys who were probably being screwed by the same man (who owns the counseling office). The man is a jerk, I cannot actually type out other words I would choose to refer to this man. In fact I am not sure there are words strong enough to convey my dislike of this man. I have previously mentioned to others that if I were to actually, truly HATE anyone, it would be this man. Even more than those who may have victimized me. Does that tell you my opinion of this man?

So J just wants to "bend over and take it up the tale pipe" to quote Jim Carey from Liar, Liar. And basically be done with it, but I still feel like I want to fight, it's like someone else picking on my little brother, it is okay for me, but not for anyone else (not that any of my younger brothers are actually littler than me anymore, and chances are they would likely defend me instead of vice versa, but you get what I mean). J is mine, and if I treat him a certain way, it's okay (not really, but I am trying to make a point here). Anyone else who screws with my J, screws with me too. That's part of being married, being a family. I know J understands this point too, but he doesn't want to fight, he just wants to be done.

I get it, but I want to defend him too. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Cutting your own hair... at any age

So good as a comment, I decided to make it a blog post of mine... The following was originally a comment to Susie's post about her daughter's hair tragedy.

If it means anything... I did it at 12, yes 12. I wanted mom to take me to get my hair cut, she wouldn't do it right that minute, I took matters into my own hands.

I couldn't get them even (proof that I am cockeyed or my head is) and so they kept getting shorter and shorter. Well, to top it off, somehow, the whole top part of my head was considered "bangs" or something, but I basically ended up with a mullet, yes I said mullet. And this was prior to mullets being "cool." I would slick back my hair with gel and I had to live with it like that, my own doing.

I will admit there have been a few other times when I have actually cut my own hair since then, I look at it, if it isn't even, and say, oh well, that's okay, at least it's out of my eyes, or whatever. There was even a time or two when I shaved the underneath on the sides and back, like I used to do, all by myself.

I also cut off my queue in high school, braided it reached 13 inches long, but I had finally determined after having it around 3 1/2 years that it was time for it to go.

Now I have long hair, that is curly (mom doesn't understand that one). James made a suggestion that I cut it short again, the look I gave him, nearly killed, and my voice said, "are you kidding? Do you know how long it took to get this long?" Especially when my sweet sister-in-law, Cindy, told me how much she liked my long hair.

So I get to be well loved Aunt B-Jo with long hair that the rest of you have cut off in favor of ease and less-likely-for-baby-or-older-child-to-pull locks.

Just Say "No" to Resolutions

That's right, I'm refusing to set myself up to fail... I cannot resolve to do anything at the beginning of a year, because I have successfully failed to follow through on just about every resolution I have made in the past. So this is the year I am saying NO.

NO resolutions for me to make.

NO resolutions for me to flub up.

SEE I'm already ahead!

WOO HOO! You should try it, I feel great!

Until next time...
